NOTES: The Duke of Somerset, to whom Syon was granted in 1547, was responsible for the conversion of the monastic buildings into a Tudor mansion in substantially the form of the present house. The interiors were remodelled by Robert Adam for the 1st Duke of Northumberland in the 1760s.
