NOTES: This prototype prefabricated house, built as a permanent dwelling, was designed by Frederick Gibberd and produced by the civil engineering and building contractors, John Howard & Co. Suitable for mass-production in factories, it was of a light steel frame, clad with prefabricated asbestos panels, and lined fibre board with aluminium foil insulation. It had a 3-way adaptable plan and took just a few days to erect.
