'A View of London about the Year 1560'

Parentalia (London, 1750), 'Heirloom copy', interleaved between pp. 266 and 267 NOTES: This map of London, based on one in the possession of Sir Hans Sloane in 1738, was engraved and printed to serve as the frontispiece of William Maitland's 'The History of London from its foundation by the Romans to the present time' (London, 1739). It is here inserted in the Library's 'Heirloom copy' of the Parentalia opposite the beginning of the text describing Sir Christopher Wren's 'Proposals for rebuilding the City of London, after the great Fire'.
