NOTES: This Benedictine abbey church dates from the 8th and 9th centuries and was enlarged with the apse in the 11th century. Consecrated in 1026, it is an important example of a triple-nave basilica typical of the Ravenna region with arcaded aisles and carpentry rafters. The frescoes representing scenes from the Old and New Testament by Vitale da Bologna and his assistants, date from the 14th century.
