NOTES: Walter S. George exhibited a painting entitled 'Afterglow' at the Royal Academy of Arts, London, in 1908 (number 684), which was probably the original work from which this mezzotint was taken. His wife Lena is known to have exhibited a piece titled 'Afterglow: the Acropolis, Athens' at the RA in 1915 (number 333).
