NOTES: Built for the Metropolitan Association for the Improvement of the Dwellings of the Industrious Classes, these buildings consisted of a lodging house for 300 single men and residences for at least 40 families. Now demolished, these were the earliest buildings of the Association's pioneering housing scheme the design for which was won in a competition in The Builder of 1848 by William Beck.
