NOTES:
The present appearance of the castle is largely 19th century, owing to the work carried out by Henry the 15th Duke of Norfolk (1847-1917) who completed its restoration in 1900. The oldest extant feature are the earth motte, erected 1068, followed by the gatehouse of 1070.
