NOTES: The frame of the building for the Bethnal Green Museum of Childhood was commissioned in 1857 as a temporary building on the site of what is now the Victoria & Albert Museum to house displays from the Great Exhibition of 1851. This was transferred to Bethnal Green in 1866 and opened in a more permanent form in 1872 (architects J. W. Wild and Henry Scott). The programme of refurbishment and additions was carried out by Caruso St John Architects.
