Notes NOTES: This Buddhist pagoda replaced an earlier one constructed of rammed earth, and five new storeys were added by 704. The structure was heavily damaged by a massive earthquake in 1556 which reduced it by three storeys to its current height of seven. It was extensively repaired during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644) and renovated in 1964.
