NOTES: Founded in 1140, this former Augustinian abbey church was elevated to cathedral status in 1542. The whole of this area was reordered by John Loughborough Pearson to something like its pre-Reformation form when the nave was restored in 1868-1877 by George Edmund Street. Pearson completed the triple-arched screen in 1905.
