NOTES: This Augustinian priory church founded in 1122 became a cathedral in 1133. Constructed in local red sandstone, the church was refurbished in Gothic style in the 13th and 14th centuries. Much of its original nave was destroyed by the Scots during the 17th century and large scale restoration was carried out in 1853-1870 by Ewan Christian.
