NOTES: GATCPAC also known as Grupo de Arquitectos & Tecnos Catalanes por el Progreso de la Arquitectura Contemporanea, was a group of Catalan architects which flourished during the Republican period prior to the Civil War. The Casa Bloc was an ambitious housing scheme intended as a social and urban paradigm, with generously planned dwelllings accessible by a series of galleries and stairs. Completed at the outbreak of the Civil War, it was taken over by the army and never occupied by the families it intended to house. Restoration of the complex began in 1991 and was completed in 2012, with one of the apartments (1/11) restored to its original state and transformed into a museum.
