NOTES: The cathedral was begun in 1436 under the aegis of Giorgio da Sebenico, who worked on it until his death in 1475. Building continued under Niccolo Fiorentino (who had been trained by Brunelleschi in Florence) and was completed after his death by the brothers Bartolomeo and Giacomo del Mestre.
