NOTES: The portico on the right belongs to the Town Hall, designed in 1832-1834 by Hansom & Welch. The tower in the centre is part of the Council House, designed by Yeoville Thomason and built between 1874 and 1885. The monument on the left is the Chamberlain Memorial Fountain, designed by J. H. Chamberlain in 1880. Chamberlain also designed the portico on the left which was part of the Birmingham and Midland Institute, completed in 1865 and demolished a century later.
