Notes NOTES: Charlecote Park was begun in 1558 by Sir Thomas Lucy, but mainly dates from the nineteenth century, as it was greatly remodelled and enlarged between c. 1847-67, by John Gibson for George and Mary Elizabeth Lucy. The gardens were laid out by 'Capability' Brown.
