Chateau de Vitre, Ile et Vilaine, Brittany

NOTES: The first stone castle on this site was built in the 11th century. It was rebuilt in its present triangular form in the 13th century. It was enlarged in the 15th century with the addition of a gatehouse and drawbridge. The comfort of the castle was later improved with the addition of galleries and a Renaissance style oratory in 1530.
