Notes NOTES: The selected design for what was called the Kirkdale Industrial School, Westminster Road, Kirkdale, was by Lockwood & Allom (begun 1843, completed 1850). The intention was to take children from the Liverpool workhouses and place them here for basic education and training for a trade or domestic service.
