NOTES: This design won first prize in the Hayling Island Beachlands Replanning Competition (awarded in November 1946), but the scheme was never executed. The scheme for the beach-front layout included restaurants and cafes, bandstand, theatre, gardens, bowling greens and putting greeens and a children's play area. This drawing was exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts, London, in 1947 (number 1139, Development of Beachlands, Hayling Island, Hants: first premiated design).
