NOTES: Designed for the insurance company 'De Nederlanden van 1845', by Berlage, this office block features an exposed concrete frame, infilled with red brick and steel-framed windows. The interior with its frosted glass roofs shows the influence of Frank Lloyd Wright's Larkin Building. During the war, part of the building was demolished to allow for a clear line of fire, but rebuilt when hostilities ceased. In 1952-1954 the architect Kranenburg added a third storey and extended the building to Ramweg in accordance with Berlage's original plans. Dudok was responsible for the original interiors and the architects, van Gendt and van Vliet also worked on the original building.
