NOTES: Howard Colvin makes reference to lodges (now demolished) designed by John Nash for Charles Townley in 1796, based on a letter from Nash to Townley dated 11 Sept. 1796, in the Townley Papers in the British Museum Archives. The figures in the foreground have been attributed by Christies to Thomas Rowlandson based on a note written on the old mount.
