NOTES;
Architect and author Peter Nicholson died in Carlisle in 1844 and was buried in Christ Church graveyard. In 1855 this print of the design for a memorial to him by Billings appeared in the Building Chronicle (vol. 1, 1855 Apr. 2, p. 174-175) along with a letter from the designer asking for contributions to the erection of this monument.
