NOTES: In 1968 Sir Leslie Martin was commissioned by Glasgow City Council to prepare a scheme for what was described as a new cultural centre, at the time intended to include a concert and conference hall, an exhibition hall, a civic theatre and a repertory theatre. The scheme was further developed between 1971 and 1978. In 1979 the scheme changed to include a shopping centre and, the only cultural part, a concert hall. After further development, the scheme was built and in 1990 the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and Buchanan Galleries (the shopping centre) opened, with RMJM Scotland as executive architects.
