NOTES: These drawings were prepared by Murray to accompany a paper read by him to the (Royal) Institute of British Architects in 1835. The asylums were built in the 1820s and 1830s. Those built in the 1820s were designed in association with Francis Johnston, to whom Murrary was official assistant.
