NOTES: This is the largest Commonwealth war cemetery in France and the first important example of Lutyens combining graves, garden design, steps, paths and commemorative buildings as a war memorial. This drawing seems to have been prepared by architect Charles Holden who, at the time, was doing war service on the staff of the Imperial War Graves Commission to which Lutyens was one of the principal consulting architects.
