NOTES: This photograph is one of a number in an album known as the 'Goodchild Album', compiled by John Eastly Goodchild between 1889 and 1896, including documents dating from 1833 onwards, entitled `Reminiscences of my twenty-six years association with the late Professor C. R. Cockerell Esq. with a supplement of the late F. P. Cockerell Esq. to 1878'. Down Hall was rebuilt between 1871 and 1873 to the designs of F. P. Cockerell for Sir Henry Selwin-Ibbetson (later Lord Rookwood). The photographs seem to date from soon after the house was completed as one of the photographs is captioned showing, amongst others, the 'Builder'. They must pre-date 1892 as Sir Henry became Lord Rookwood in that year and captions on the photographs are for Sir Henry and for Lady Ibbetson (not Lord and Lady Rookwood).
