NOTES: Construction on the Cathedral began in 1107 in Romanesque style but was halted by an earthquake in 1117. It was resumed in 1129 and was completed by 1170. The main facade is in the Lombard Gothic style and was probably built in the 13th and early 14th centuries. The brick campanile, the Torrazzo, was built in 1238 as a peace monument.
