Egglestone Abbey, Barnard Castle, County Durham

NOTES: This Premonstratensian abbey on the borders of Yorkshire and County Durham was founded between 1168 and 1198. It was dissolved in 1540 and the lands were granted in 1548 to Robert Strelly, who converted some of the buildings into a great private house that was abandoned in the mid-19th century.
