NOTES: Finmar was founded in 1934 by Philip Morton Shand, architectural critic and journalist for the Architectural Review, and Geoffrey Boumphrey, an engineer, to import Alvar Aalto's plywood furniture from Finland. It was reconstituted in 1949 under the ownership of a Dane, Paul Ernst Stemann, concentrating on the import of Danish goods.
