NOTES: This lithograph was prepared for Edward Twycross, Mansions of England and Wales, the county palatine of Lancaster, vols. 1-3. The original house was known as Chorley Hall and later Lower Chorley Hall. It was a medieval building on a moated site which, when it was demolished, remained as a moated island landscape feature in the gardens of the new house.
