NOTES: Formerly the Mechanics' Institution and School of Art (1868) by Cuthbert Broderick. The School of Art moved out in 1903 and the Institute from the 1920s until May 2005 housed the Civic Theatre. In 2005-2008 it was converted into the City Museum by Austin-Smith Lord. The Electric Press building (a former printing works) was a 1900 extension by Chorley & Pickersgill of a 1860s building. It now houses bars, restaurant and a theatre.
