MARS Group Exhibition, New Burlington Galleries, London: the form and purpose stand

NOTES: This is the most important 17th century English architectural model for a country house to survive. The roof lifts off and each floor can then be removed in turn, while interior features such as staircases, chimney breasts, columns, niches and plasterwork are indicated.

NOTES: This model made by Fouquet shows the Temple reconstructed as it was thought it looked when built, whereas the cork model in the RIBA Collections shows it in the ruined state at the time that that model was made (see RIBA13225 and RIBA13226).
