NOTES: This drawing is numbered XII/21 recto in the Burlington-Devonshire Collection. The Porta dei Borsari was built in the 1st century although begun in the century before. Its current name dates from a later period after the tax collectors who levied entry and exit tariffs on goods at this gate.
