NOTES: Trading ceased at this the third Royal Exchange in 1939 and later, in the 1990s, the building was refurbished as an upmarket shopping mall. The Mermaid Theatre was established in the courtyard in 1953 where it resided until its relocation to the purpose-built Mermaid Theatre at Puddle Dock in 1959.
