Notes NOTES: This was the 2nd stage design, which differed sharply from their final design which won the competition. Although Ahrends Burton & Koralek won, their design was never built. The new extension was designed by Venturi Scott Brown & Associates and completed in 1991. The National Gallery was designed by William Wilkins in 1838.
