NOTES: The palazzo was built for Cipriano Pallavicino. The core of the building predates the new facade and alterations begun in 1540 by Cipriano Pallavicino. The drawing is one of a series executed in an unidentified Italian hand, collected by Peter Paul Rubens and published in engraved form in his book 'I Palazzi di Genova' (Antwerp, 1622). The publication was divided into two parts: 'Palazzi Antichi' and 'Palazzi Moderni' (where this particular image appears in reverse as Fig. 36). Subsequent additions appeared in 1652 and 1663 and the book was Rubens' only work on pure architecture.
