NOTES: The Pantheon was opened in 1772 to designs by James Wyatt as assembly rooms. It was almost completely destroyed by fire in 1792 but was rebuilt to similar designs. In 1833-1834 Sydney Smirke largely rebuilt the building as a bazaar which lasted to 1867 when the wine merchants Gilbey's bought the building as offices and showrooms. In 1937 the building was demolished for the construction of a shop for Marks & Spencer (architect Robert Lutyens).
