NOTES: Bristol College, founded in 1833, entered its new buildings designed by A. J. Davis with Russell Davis in 1834. The college combined education with agricultural work. The college closed in 1837, its buildings being used for other things including an orphanage, a Civil War hospital and a school. The only building still extant is Pennsylvania Hall, now known as White Hall. The print dates from some time between 1835, when Nathaniel Currier set up his lithography business on his own at 1 Wall Street, New York, and 1857, when Currier took into partnership James Merrit Ives creating the famous firm of Currier & Ives.
