NOTES: These drawings represent design proposals for the land purchased by the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 with the profits from the Great Exhibition. Following the suggestion of Prince Albert, the area, sometimes known as Albertopolis, was to be destined for learned and artistic societies.
