NOTES: Construction on the Norman cathedral began in 1083 beginning with the nave and it was consecrated in 1130. Fire destroyed the wooden roof of the nave and damaged the choir in c.1137, the rebuilding of which began in Gothic style in 1180. The cathedral was completed by 1343 with the addition of the central tower.
