Santi Giovanni e Paolo, Rome: the campanile

NOTES: One of the earliest Christian churches in Rome. Santi Giovanni e Paolo was founded in the fourth century on the site of a Roman palace. Rebuilding began in 1084 and continued until 1159 when the apse and campanile were constructed. The church was restored in 1718.
