The Convent in the Wood, Stourhead, Wiltshire

NOTES: Henry Hoare II, a banker who had been on the Grand Tour, inherited Stourhead in 1741and was largely responsible for the design of the gardens. This Gothic cottage was probably built for the convenience of shooting parties and for the household of the mansion to hold picnics.
