NOTES: Originally built in 1670 by William Samwell for Sir Robert Henley, this mansion was remodelled in Greek Revival style for Henry Drummond by William Wilkins in 1804-1809. In 1964 the estate was acquired by John (Basher) Baring who obtained permission to demolish the house in 1970. Over the next decade the interior of the house was gutted while the exterior was left to deteriorate. Total dereliction was averted when English Heritage was given charge of the house in 1984 and it has since become the venue for Grange Park Opera.
