NOTES: Walton worked from 1916 to 1921 as Assistant Architect to Harry Redfern at the Central Control Board (CCB) for liquor traffic. For the board he converted and decorated public houses, coffee houses, hotels and working men's canteens and designed furniture, plaques, signboards and panelling. The Gretna Tavern was converted from a postal sorting office in just ten days to provide for local war workers.
