The Kensington (later Odeon), High Street Kensington, London: the entrance hall with onyx urn

NOTES: Opened in 1926, the Kensington was the largest cinema in the country at the time with accommodation for 2,300 people. Originally designed for Joseph T. Mears Theatres it was one of the first essays in adopting the Egyptian style for cinema design.
