NOTES: Built as a merchant or wealthy craftsman's house c.1350, this medieval timber-framed building was converted into an inn c.1390. Alterations to it in the 19th century caused subsidence to the main timber frame and it was in such a perilous state by the 1960s that demolition was considered. However, it was saved by the intervention of the Nottingham Building Society which undertook an extensive restoration in 1979-1980.
