NOTES: The Torre del Popolo was erected in the 13th century. The RomanTemple of Minerva was built in the 1st century BC by the quatorvirates Gneus Cesius and Titus Cesius Priscus. It was abandoned in the 5th century when paganism was outlawed. In 1539 the inner sanctum of the temple was transformed into the church of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, with further alterations added in the Baroque style by Giacomo Giorgetti during the 17th century.
