Notes NOTES: Charles Holden and Reginald Uren designed replacement buildings (1937-1939) for the existing station, but the project was abandoned with the outbreak of the war and, although raised again in 1947, was never executed. Number 8 is a Uren design; the stripped-classicism of the tall pillars arranged in a curve at the station entrances, is more heroic than the buildings designed in the same style by Holden.
