NOTES: Four bye-law terrace houses in Alliance Street , Stockton, were converted by Allied Ironfounders to provide indoor sanitation and hot water from new solid fuel heating. This experiment in providing esential ammenities in British housing was supervised by the architect R. Cowan and was known as the Stockton Test.
