NOTES: A number of drawings of Palestrina by Hadfield and Colonna were owned by J. B. Papworth which he used to illustrate a lecture he gave at the Royal Institute of British Architects on 15 May 1848 entitled 'Notes on some drawings in illustration of Praeneste (Palestrina)'. In his lecture he states that the Hadfield and Colonna drawings were made in 1791. It is thought that three drawings, RIBA84095-RIBA84097, were probably by Papworth himself, after the Hadfield and Colonna drawings, and created for the lecture.
