NOTES: There is a similar sketch of the stele by J. M. W. Turner dated 1819 in his 'Vatican Fragments Sketchbook' at the Tate (reference D15137 / Turner Bequest CLXXX 17). This drawing is in a small Italian sketchbook, dated 'Napoli, April 17, 1815', from Cockerell's Grand Tour of the eastern Mediterranean and Italy between 1810 and 1817.
